Privacy Policy

ClipVault ("we", "our", or "us") is an app that lets you save short-form video links (Instagram reels, YouTube shorts, TikTok posts, and similar) and turns them into searchable, auto-tagged notes inside a personal vault. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and the controls you have over it.

1. Information we collect

Account information. When you create an account we collect your email address, your display name, and (optionally) a profile photo. If you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email, and profile picture URL from Google.

Content you save. When you save a link to your vault we store: the URL, an AI-generated title and description, AI-generated tags, the collection you placed it in, your own notes, and the thumbnail image from the source.

AI processing data. When you tap "Auto Generate" or save a video, ClipVault sends the URL to our content-extraction service to fetch the public caption, audio, and a video frame from the source. The audio is transcribed and the frame is described by AI models running on our own server. The original audio and video files are processed in memory and deleted immediately after the transcript and visual description are generated, they are not retained.

Subscription data. Subscription purchases go through Google Play Billing. We do not see or store your payment card details. We do receive (via RevenueCat, our subscription management provider) the purchase token, subscription status (active / cancelled / renewing), and renewal dates so we can unlock Pro features for your account.

Diagnostic data. Basic device identifiers and crash logs are processed for stability and authentication purposes. We do not use third-party advertising or behavioural-tracking SDKs.

2. How we use your information

• To provide the core vault: storing your saved links, collections, and notes, and showing them back to you across your devices.
• To generate titles, descriptions, and tags from the content of links you save (the "Auto Generate" feature).
• To authenticate your account and keep your data secure.
• To process subscription purchases and unlock Pro features for paying users.
• To respond when you contact us for support.

We do not sell your personal information, do not share it with advertisers, and do not use it to train external AI models.

3. Third-party services

ClipVault is built on these services and they receive limited data as part of normal operation:

• Google Firebase, authentication and Firestore database. Your account, vault items, and collections are stored here. Subject to Firebase's privacy policy.
• Google Play Billing & RevenueCat, subscription purchases and entitlement validation. Subject to Google's and RevenueCat's privacy policies.
• ClipVault content-extraction server, our own server which fetches the public version of the URL you save, runs audio transcription and frame analysis, and returns a structured description. URLs you save pass through this server. Files are processed transiently and not retained.
• Instagram (optional), if you choose to connect your Instagram account, we use Instagram's public APIs with the session cookies you authorise, only to fetch the metadata of links you save. You can disconnect at any time from Settings.

4. Sharing collections

If you choose to share a collection using the "Share" feature, a public link is created (clipvault.app/c/<id>) that anyone with the link can view in read-only mode. Only the items in that specific collection become visible, nothing else from your account. You can revoke sharing at any time by toggling the collection back to private; the public link will stop working immediately.

5. Data storage & security

• Your data is stored on Google Firebase infrastructure in the asia-south1 (Mumbai, India) region.
• All data transmission between the app and our backend is encrypted (HTTPS/TLS).
• Access to your vault is restricted to your authenticated account; other users cannot read or modify your data, even if they know your user ID.
• We do not retain the audio or video files from links you save, only the textual outputs of the AI analysis.

6. Your rights & controls

• Access & edit: view and edit your profile information at any time from the Settings screen inside the app.
• Delete individual items: delete any saved link, collection, or tag from inside the app.
• Delete account: permanently delete your account and all associated data from Settings → Privacy & Security → Delete account. This removes your authentication record, profile, and all vault contents from our systems within 30 days.
• Subscription: manage or cancel your subscription anytime via Settings → Manage Subscription, which opens the Google Play subscriptions center.
• Disconnect linked services: if you connected Instagram, you can disconnect it from Settings at any time.

If you would like to request a copy of all data we hold about you, or have us delete data without using the in-app flow, email us at support@clipvault.app and we will respond within 30 days.

7. Children's privacy

ClipVault is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under that age. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us personal information, please contact us at support@clipvault.app and we will delete it.

8. International transfers

If you use ClipVault from outside India, your data will be transferred to and stored in India where our Firebase region is located. By using ClipVault, you consent to this transfer.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be highlighted by updating the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, surfacing a notice inside the app. Continued use of ClipVault after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
